ASTON VILLA manager Paul Lambert has had meeting with Tom Cleverley about an alleged row with Roy Keane.
Paul Lambert has spoken to Tom Cleverley about an alleged row with Roy Keane
Keane is reported to be blaming Cleverley for stories about training ground bust-ups at Villa when he was No2 to Lambert.
It has been said Keane went to confront Cleverley at his home in Cheshire, but that Cleverley was out.
Lambert has had to endure repetitions of confrontations between Keane and Villa players ever since Keane left the club three weeks ago and has consistently denied them.
Cleverley assured me that things hadn’t happened in the way they have been portrayed
He is adamant that Keane only quit because he found working for both the Irish national team and Aston Villa too demanding on his home life.
Lambert spoke to Cleverley this morning and has also spoken to Keane.
“I think if Roy Keane took a strand from his beard it would be a story,” said Lambert.
“He’s a good pal of mine and there’s no problem. I spoke to Cleverley for probably three seconds.
“Cleverley assured me that things hadn’t happened in the way they have been portrayed. Cleverley is perfectly relaxed about it. It’s finished.”
