Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was my 'true inspiration' - Theo Walcott
THEO WALCOTT has praised retired Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as the "true inspiration" of his career on social media.
Henry (left) and Walcott were Arsenal team-mates between 2006 and 2007, and then again in 2012
Walcott tweeted a flattering tribute to Frenchman Henry, who announced his retirement from football at the age of 38 today.
He wrote: "A true inspiration to me in my career. Thank you @Thierryhenry & good luck in your new path with @skysports."

Henry enjoyed an eight-year career at Arsenal and scored 175 Premier League goals en route to three domestic titles.
Walcott joined the Gunners in 2006 and won his first trophy at the Emirates last season when Arsene Wenger's men lifted the FA Cup.

Arsenal's current crop of players have also lauded the World Cup winner.
Aaron Ramsay and Hector Bellerin both Tweeted their response to Henry's retirement announcement, while former striker Ian Wright simply wrote: "The king."
