Arsene Wenger: England call-up will do the world of good for Theo Walcott
ARSENE WENGER believes Arsenal star Theo Walcott will benefit from an England call-up, although he admits he needs to be managed carefully.
The 25-year-old made his first appearance for the Gunners since January when he came on for the last 10 minutes of Saturday's 3-0 win over Burnley.
Walcott impressed during his cameo role, although it has been a long rehabilitation process for a player who was sidelined for 10 months with a serious knee injury.
He could be included by Roy Hodgson for England's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia and their friendly in Scotland, and Wenger believes it would be good for him to get some more game time under his belt.
"If he wants to go (with England), I am happy for him to go and train, and maybe get a few minutes," Wenger said.
I am happy for that because it will help his development
"I am happy for that because it will help his development.
"Is he completely ready? I think it is a bit early, but to be in the squad would be good for him."
It remains to be seen whether Wenger will take a gamble and start Walcott for their Champions League group game at home to Anderlecht tomorrow.
