Manchester City join Chelsea and United in £24m race for Barcelona star Gerard Pique
MANCHESTER CITY have joined the race to sign Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.
The Spain international appears to have fallen down the pecking order under new boss Luis Enrique, with Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu both favoured in the heart of defence.
This has lead to speculation that the former Manchester United man could return to the Premier League.
United and Chelsea were heavy favourites to land the centre-back in January, but today's reports in Spain claim they now face stiff competition from rivals City.

At the moment I'm not thinking about leaving
A fee of £24m is understood to be enough to tempt the La Liga giants to sell Pique, but the Spaniard could choose to reject the interest from England in favour of a Barca stay.
Earlier this week he said: "At the moment I'm not thinking about leaving.
"I'm a Barcelona fan, I have been since I was a kid. I want to stay here."
