Manchester United send scouts to watch £18m-rated Argentine star Ezequiel Garay
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign Zenit St. Petersburg centre-half Ezequiel Garay.
Van Gaal has long been an admirer of the Argentine defender, and hopes to lure him to Old Trafford in January.
It's believed he'll form a solid partnership with fellow countryman Marcos Rojo at the heart of United's vulnerable defence, but could cost a sizeable figure.
But the highly-rated Garay's assured demeanour and invaluable experience could prove the solution to Van Gaal's defensive woes.
Manchester United - Most Expensive Signings
Van Gaal is reported to have sent two United scouts to watch the 28-year-old during Zenit's 2-0 defeat to German side Bayer Leverkusen last week.
Garay only joined the Russian outfit in June for approximately £12m, but has already inflated his valuation with some sterling performances during the World Cup.
But clearly with United's £150m summer splurge during the summer - money is no object.
With long term targets Mats Hummels, and Winston Reid looking less likely to join the Dutchman at Old Trafford - all eyes will be on Garay.
