Brendan Rodgers backs Mario Balotelli to score against Real Madrid…IF selected!
LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has backed Mario Balotelli to score against Real Madrid at Anfield tonight (7:45pm).
Balotelli has scored just once for the Reds since his £16m move from AC Milan in the summer, despite starting seven out of eight games in all competitions.
And Rodgers is confident that Balotelli, whose only goal game in the Champions League win over Ludogorets, can kick-start his Anfield career against Real.
However, the Northern Irishman refused to confirm whether the 24-year-old striker will start against the European champions.
“Of course he was disappointed after the weekend [not scoring against QPR]. He’s a goalscorer and wants to score goals,” Rodgers said.

If selected, he’ll go into the game looking to get off the mark again
“But I pointed out to him that he was getting the positions to miss. He was getting into the areas, so it’s only a matter of time before he gets goals.
“He’s working hard, which is important, and he’s got goals in big games before.
“If selected, he’ll go into the game looking to get off the mark again.
“And as long as he’s in there I’ve got every confidence he can score goals.”
