REVEALED: Why Real Madrid let Manchester United have Radamel Falcao
RADAMEL FALCAO joined Manchester United on deadline day, but Real pulled out of a move because he was too expensive, claims Florentino Perez.
The president admitted the club considered a move for Falcao, however deciding against following through with their interest.
The Colombian hitman signed for United on a season-long loan deal and will pocket £350,000-a-week.
United were one of four clubs chasing Falcao on deadline day, but Perez has revealed it made no business sense to bring Falcao to the Bernabeu.
"We considered signing Falcao," Perez said.
The coach's opinion was also important in us turning it down
"But in this club we follow a sporting-economic equation which (former club president Santiago) Bernabeu taught us, and we decided not to do so.
"The coach's opinion was also important in us turning it down."
Falcao is currently on international duty with Colombia, but could make his full Manchester United debut against QPR.
