Top four fight! Liverpool legend doubts Reds title bid after Man City defeat
LIVERPOOL legend Jamie Carragher believes the club are likely to be challenging for a top four place as opposed to being in the thick of the title race.
Carragher, who made 737 appearances for the Reds, was speaking on Twitter when he declared that Liverpool fans should not get their hopes up when it comes to contending for honours in the Premier League.
He wrote: "I see Lfc fighting for top 4 with Arsenal, Spurs, United and Everton."
The Sky pundit made the comment in the aftermath of Manchester City's 3-1 victory over Brendan Rodger's side.
Liverpool enjoyed an encouraging start to the match but City striker Stevan Jovetic broke the deadlock just before half-time.

The hosts pulled clear in the second half through Montenegrin Jovetic and Sergio Aguero goals before Pablo Zabaleta conceded an own goal under pressure from Rickie Lambert.
Mario Balotelli's £16m signing was announced before the game to become the club's ninth summer signing.
Liverpool face a marathon campaign with the added pressures of the Champions League likely to pack out their fixture list.
They currently sit ninth in the tentative Premier League table with three points.
