Young Gunner Calum Chambers could be Arsenal's first-choice centre-half
ARSENE WENGER has hinted that youngster Calum Chambers could be his first-choice centre-half this season.
The 19-year-old provided an impressive performance in Arsenal's Community Shield win over Manchester City at Wembley today giving him his first piece of silverware in just his third appearance for the Gunners.
"Calum Chambers did not play there by coincidence - I have seen the qualities he has shown today. He had never played alongside Nacho Monreal before and he was outstanding," said Arsene Wenger.
"For a 19 year-old, he had an outstanding performance today. He was very impressive."

Goals from Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud meant Arsenal followed up May's FA Cup final triumph over Hull with another Wembley win to clinch the first silverware available in the 2014-15 campaign.
Wenger also confirmed that the club wants to bring in more signings before the end of the summer transfer window and is keen to replace Thomas Vermaelen who made the move to Spanish giants Barcelona yesterday.
"If I can find another centre back I will do it," Wenger added. "You make your position with your performances."
