Man Utd left fuming after £20m Mats Hummels blow
MANCHESTER UNITED'S reported move for Germany's Mats Hummels looks to be over after he was appointed Borussia Dortmund captain.
Reports claimed that Louis Van Gaal was eager to add Hummels to his ranks after seeing club stalwarts Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand depart on free transfers.
Despite plotting a £30million move for Chelsea target and Roma star Mehdi Benatia, the Dutchman was ready to offer Dortmund £20million for their prized defensive asset.
However, a switch for Hummels this summer is likely to be over as reports in Germany claim that Jurgen Klopp has made the 25-year-old his new skipper.

I can still feel the effects of my injury from the World Cup
The former Bayern Munich youngster was believed to be attracting the interests of his old club, as well as United and Barcelona, but looks set to stay with Dortmund this summer as he recovers from an injury picked up at the World Cup.
He told Bild: "I can still feel the effects of my injury from the World Cup final, but it is nothing serious.
"[The captaincy?] That's up to the coach. I would love it but am accustomed to taking responsibility even without the captaincy."
