Marouane Fellaini's Old Trafford exit compromised by Man Utd and Napoli's £4m dispute
MAROUANE FELLAINI'S season-long loan deal to Napoli has been held-up after a £4m dispute between Manchester United and the Italian giants.
Reports claim Manchester United want Napoli to pay a £4m fee in addition to his £100,000 per-week wages.
However, Rafael Benitez's side are only willing to part with £1.5m for the former Toffee.
The disparity between the two sides' valuation of Fellaini, could see the the 26-year-old remain at Old Trafford to fight for a first-team place - an unwanted scenario for many United supporters.
Manchester United Premier League Preview
Fellaini is a Manchester United player, it does not depend on us, but it depends on them
Manager Rafa Benitez has been outspoken in his pursuit of the Belgian international - claiming a deal hinges on Manchester United's willingness to let him leave.
"Fellaini is a Manchester United player, it does not depend on us, but it depends on them.
"He is a great player, but he is at another team. It appears he is waiting for Van Gaal. We will have to wait."
If Fellaini is waiting for a decision from manager Louis Van Gaal, early signs suggest he is out-of-favour.
The Dutchman's pursuit of midfield enforcers including Kevin Strootman and Arturo Vidal, combined with his reported comments that Fellaini is "not a United type of player" - all paint a bleak picture for the £27m man.
