CONFIRMED: Former Man Utd captain Rio Ferdinand joins QPR on one-year deal
QUEENS PARK RANGERS have completed the free transfer of former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand.
The 35-year-old penned a one-year deal, thought to be worth a staggering £3.5m a-year - constituting Harry Redknapp's first signing of the summer.
Ferdinand has been the subject of a great deal of transfer speculation - with many expecting the defender to make the (seemingly mandatory) move to the MLS.

It’s not about money – I had loads of more lucrative offers available to me
However Ferdinand has resisted the allures of a colossal money deal abroad, instead opting to remain in the Premier League and help QPR fight for survival.
He said: “I still feel I’ve got something to offer and I’m excited about helping this club cement its place in the Premier League.
"I had a lot of offers from all over the world – some in places with a better climate than here. But the draw for me was to play in the Premier League and back here where it all started.
