Riise set to leave Liverpool in £5m deal
LIVERPOOL full-back John Arne Riise is poised to move to AS Roma after being given permission to talk to the Italian club.
The Norwegian defender landed in the Italian capital on Wednesday morning to open negotiations with last season’s Serie A runners-up.
According to reports in Italy, a four-year deal is on offer to the 27-year-old, who has been one of Liverpool's most reliable players in recent seasons.
Riise is to become the first casualty of Rafa Benitez's summer overhaul by moving to the Serie A runners-up in a deal that could eventually reach £5million.
Roma boss Luciano Spalletti believes Riise can offer his side a "different dimension" and the left-back said: "That was nice what was said by the coach.
"I need to play and need to be in a team where I can become better."
