Arsenal look to Norwich keeper John Ruddy as competition for World Cup stars hots up
ARSENAL are ready to step up their interest in Norwich keeper John Ruddy as they look to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny next term.
Ruddy has emerged as a candidate for Arsene Wenger's side with the alternatives either too expensive or highly sought-after.
Wenger's first-choice was thought to be Cardiff stopper David Marshall but the Bluebird's £15m asking price scuppered a move.
The Gunners have also been keeping a close eye on Costa Rica's Keylor Navas and Colombia's David Ospina, but reports suggest there is fierce competition for both players after their impressive performances at the World Cup.
And that has seen Arsenal contemplating Ruddy, who they believe could be prised away from Norwich for a fee in the region of £7m.
Sanchez: Wenger a factor in Arsenal transfer
I committed myself to a club who have given me everything.
After being relegated from the Premier League, Ruddy pledged to stick with the Canaries, saying:"The Premier League is obviously where every player wants to be.
"But ultimately I signed a deal with Norwich in October and I committed myself to a club who have given me everything. They took a massive gamble on me when I was in a real no man's land period of my career."
However, he may well be tempted by a quick return to the top-flight as he looks to push his claim for a place in the England squad moving forward.
