Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano dies at the age of 88
REAL MADRID legend Alfredo Di Stefano has died in a Madrid hospital two days after suffering a heart attack.
The 88-year-old was kept in an induced coma following his admission to General Universitario Gregorio Maranon Hospital but has since passed away.
The Argentina-born forward enjoyed a prosperous footballing career, most notably winning five successive European Cups with Real Madrid between 1956 and 1960.
He is currently Madrid's second highest scorer in history, behind Raul, with 307 goals in all competitions.
Real paid tribute to Di Stefano's legacy by appointing him as the club's honorary president in 2000 and naming its new training complex after him six years later.
