Liverpool set to seal £25m Lazar Markovic move, whilst Reds eye Sanchez - Suarez switch
LIVERPOOL are set to clinch the £25million signing of Serbian winger Lazar Markovic from Benfica and hold further talks with Barcelona over Luis Suarez, with their hopes of luring Alexis Sanchez as part of a £70m-plus deal appearing to recede.
Arsenal are confident of signing Sanchez, which would then mean Barcelona signing Suarez for cash.
Liverpool are also set to open talks with Belgium striker Divock Origi having agreed a £9.8m deal with Lille, and have been told they must pay £25m for Southampton’s Croatia defender Dejan Lovren.
The striker was with the Belgium squad during the World Cup but was knocked out in the quarter-finals against Argentina, and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of tieing up a deal in the coming week.
Liverpool were dealt a blow in their pursuit of Will Hughes after the England under-21 midfielder signed a new deal with Derby County, but are still considering a move for Seattle Sounders right back Deandre Yedlin, who has also been linked with a move to Roma.
The Serie A runners-up club signed former England full back Ashley Cole.
