CONFIRMED: Newcastle sign Ajax captain Siem de Jong on six-year-deal
NEWCASTLE have completed the signing of Holland international Siem de Jong from Ajax on a six-year-deal for an undisclosed fee.
The Ajax skipper joins Alan Pardew's side after his brother Luuk made the move in January on loan, and claims he is delighted to be on Tyneside.
De Jong is a versatile forward who is best suited behind the main striker, and Toon fans will be hoping he can inspire the creativity they've been lacking since Yohan Cabaye left for Paris St-Germain at the beginning of the year.
De Jong was thrilled with his move to the north-east, claiming: "It is great to have signed for Newcastle. It is a big club which my brother told me all about, so I already feel good here.

The chance to play for a club like this in the Premier League was one I could not turn down
"I had been at Ajax a long time and wanted a new challenge in a new environment and a new country.
"Coming to Newcastle is a great opportunity and the chance to play for a club like this in the Premier League was one I could not turn down.
"I am looking forward to starting training and meeting my new teammates and hopefully we can have a successful season."
