Sunderland set to beat Arsenal to Swansea captain Ashley Williams
SUNDERLAND have made a bid for Swansea skipper and Arsenal target Ashley Williams.
The 30-year-old defender has been with the club since 2008, making 252 appearances in the process.
The Wales international has one year left on his deal, and was linked with a move to the Gunners last summer, with QPR also believed to be interest in his services.

However Black Cats boss Gus Poyet has made an offer of around £4million as he looks to bolster his team's defence, and is confident that Garry Monk will sanction a move or else lose the centre-back on a free transfer next year.
Arsene Wenger is also in the market for another defender to take the pressure off first-team pairing Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, and could be tempted to join the race for Williams' signature.
