Liverpool back in for 34-year-old former Barcelona star Seydou Keita
LIVERPOOL could follow up their shock move for Southampton's 32-year-old forward Rickie Lambert by signing 34-year-old former Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita from Valencia.
Reports in Spain suggest that Liverpool are preparing to pounce after talks over a contract extension with Los Che stalled.
Liverpool were keen on signing Keita in January but the player rejected a move over concerns about a lack of playing time.
However, after the Reds qualified for the Champions League next season, Brendan Rodgers will look to rotate his squad and is in a better position to offer regular playing time to a larger number of players.
Liverpool wanted Seydou Keita in January
Keita is thought to prefer to remain at Valencia, with his current six-month deal coming to an end.
But the Spanish side's financial difficulties mean they are not in a position to compete with the type of wages Liverpool are willing to put on the table.
And that could tempt Keita to ditch Spain for a final hurrah in the Premier League.
