Man Utd's Luke Shaw deal still on despite contract extension for Patrice Evra
MANCHESTER UNITED'S deal to sign Southampton starlet Luke Shaw is to still go ahead, despite Patrice Evra signing a contract extension.
Evra, 33, has been a key player at United since joining from Monaco in 2006, but was understood to be on his way out with his contract expiring in the summer.
But the Frenchman has instead committed to a new deal to see him through the 2014/15 season.
It was believed that Shaw was being signed to replace Evra in a £27m deal, but it now appears that new boss Louis Van Gaal plans for the two left-backs to compete for a first-team spot.
