David De Gea scoops double at Manchester United's glitzy player of the year awards
DAVID DE GEA scooped an impressive double after being named Manchester United's player of the year by both his colleagues and the supporters at the club's glitzy annual awards ceremony last night at Old Trafford.
The Spanish goalkeeper was recognised for his terrific form which has seen him keep 13 clean sheets, by claiming both accolades.
He clinched the supporters' award with 54 per cent of vote, while Wayne Rooney and Adnan Januzaj finished second and third respectively.
The United players were joined on the red carpet by their wives and girlfriends.
On receiving the award, De Gea said: "I want to thank the fans. From my very first day at the club, I have felt their love and I’m really happy.

He also tweeted his gratitude, in which he wrote: "Very happy!! It's an incredible honour! A night I'll never forget! Thanks!!"
Meanwhile, Rooney won the award for goal of the season for his stunning strike against West Ham.
