I learned from the best! Raheem Sterling pays tribute to Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge
RAHEEM STERLING has lauded the role played by Liverpool's striking duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in helping to force his way back into the first team and for igniting the Reds' incredible campaign.
Suarez and Sturridge have been in scintillating form and helped Liverpool to 11 consecutive league victories on the trot.
Sterling meanwhile has enjoyed a fantastic season and was shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
And the 19-year-old who was named the Young Player of the Year at the club's inaugural dinner earlier this week, admits he learned a lot studying the way Sturridge and Suarez both play.
"It's been a great season for us and I think everyone has worked really hard as a group," said Sterling.
I needed to get into the box and there are no two better players to learn from than them
"There's a real togetherness in the squad and I'm just glad to be a part of this great football club. On a personal level, at the start of the season I wasn't playing much, but it's been a real learning curve for me.
"To be able to sit back and learn from the boys, people like Dan and Luis, has been important. To improve my game, I needed to get into the box and score some goals and there are no two better players to learn from than them.
"I really tried to learn my game and I want to thank Brendan and all the staff for helping me to get to where I am today."
Liverpool face Newcastle on Sunday (3pm) and will need Manchester City to have any hope of lifting the title.
