Wayne who? Jonjo Shelvey STUNS Aston Villa with sensational strike from half-way
SWANSEA'S Jonjo Shelvey has taken a leaf out of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's book as he submitted his own candidate for goal of the season against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Shelvey shocked Villa by cheating down a clearance from keeper Brad Guzan and hammering a swerving, dipping effort back over the American's head to put the Swans 2-1 up.
The goal drew comparisons with Rooney's goal against West Ham earlier this season.
Rooney caught Hammers keeper Adrian off his line just seven minutes into the game at Upton Park in March.
But Shelvey's effort certainly gives Rooney's strike a run for it's money in the goal-of-the-season stakes.
What do you think? Is Shelvey's goal better than Rooney's? Leave your comment below.
