REVEALED: Louis van Gaal met with Man Utd TEN DAYS ago
MANCHESTER UNITED have already held a meeting with Tottenham managerial target Louis van Gaal over replacing David Moyes.
This morning United confirmed that Moyes had been sacked from his post as United boss.
Ryan Giggs will take over on a temporary basis but the club have not indicated he will get the job long-term.
The bookmakers' clear favourite is Dutch coach van Gaal, who is also wanted by Spurs.
The 62-year-old will be free after the World Cup this summer, when he leaves his post with the Netherlands.
And according to reports in Holland, United have already made moves to replace Moyes with van Gaal.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claim that United chiefs met with van Gaal in Amsterdam TEN days ago.
It is said that the former Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax boss was offered the United job.
Van Gaal has previously hinted his desire to manage in the Premier League.
"My ambition is to coach a top team in the Premier League," he said. "I have never experienced the atmosphere in England.
Having won titles in Germany, Spain and his native Holland, van Gaal added: "I want to win the league title in a fourth country. That's my objective and I want to fulfil it. Either that, or I will retire and move with my wife to Portugal."
