Wayne Rooney's back at Everton! Manchester United striker fit for Goodison return
WAYNE ROONEY will be back for David Moyes' highly-charged return to Everton on Sunday.
Rooney has recovered from the badly bruised toe that required a pain-killing injection to enable him to play in Manchester United's Champions League quarter-final defeat to Bayern Munich 10 days ago.
It was feared the England striker might miss United's remaining five games to ensure he will be fit for the World Cup.
But Rooney has made a good recovery, has been back in training this week, and told Moyes he wants to play at Goodison Park.
The news is a huge boost for Moyes, who is desperate to avoid a double defeat to his former club who won 1-0 at Old Trafford in December when Everton fans gave their ex-manager a hostile reception.
With Robin Van Persie still in Holland receiving treatment on a knee ligament injury, United need Rooney's goal threat.
Also fit after missing the Munich game with a calf injury is another former Evertonian Marouane Fellaini, who joined United in a £27.5m deadline day move last August.
Victory on Sunday over the club he managed for 11 years would be particularly sweet for Moyes and improve United's faint hopes of finishing Everton.
They are nine points behind at the moment but they can narrow the gap to three by winning on Sunday and then their game in hand.
