Derby 3 - Huddersfield 1: Gift-wrapped for Rams
STEVE McCLAREN will be a Premier League boss next term if Derby’s rivals are as generous as Huddersfield were yesterday.
The Rams all but sealed a play-off spot after being gifted all three points by Town who finished with nine men.
With the score at 1-1, defender Joel Lynch was sent off for a second bookable offence after a lunge on Patrick Bamford before half-time.
Huddersfield keeper Alex Smithies then inexplicably fumbled Craig Forsyth’s 50th-minute cross into his own net.
And six minutes later skipper Peter Clarke was sent off for a second bookable offence after bringing down Will Hughes, with Chris Martin converting the penalty.
Town’s Nahki Wells tapped home after 14 minutes with Johnny Russell levelling before the break.
