Arsenal and Chelsea hold preliminary talks with Mario Mandzukic's agent over summer move
THE AGENT of Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic has flown to London for preliminary talks with Arsenal and Chelsea.
Mandzukic is widely expected to leave Bayern in the summer following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund.
The Croatian is likely to be one of the hottest properties on the transfer market should he decide to leave the Allianz Arena but it seems that both Arsenal and Chelsea have been given a chance to land the 27-year-old.
Reports in Italy suggest that Mandzukic's agent was in London Friday to get a better sense of the two clubs intentions with respect to his client.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of big name targets in the summer with Diego Costa, Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao all thought to feature more prominently on Jose Mourinho's wish-list than Mandzukic.
Arsenal, however, could well be a viable destination with Arsene Wenger keen to bring in support for Olivier Giroud up front.
Indeed, with Mandzukic believed to be available for a fee in the region of £10m he could represent the kind of bargain of which Wenger is so fond.
Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus all also hold an interest in Mandzukic and it is not known whether his agent has yet sounded out those clubs on their interest in his client.
Either way, it remains to be seen whether either London club step up their interest following his agents' visits.
The former Wolfsburg star has scored 23 goals in 36 games for Bayern this season.
