Fulham set to beat Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea to Greek sensation Konstantinos Mitroglou
FULHAM could be set to beat Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea to Greek scoring sensation Konstantinos Mitroglou in a £12m deal.
The Cottagers have been in negotiations with Olympiakos over a move for the player, with talks set to continue today after the London side's initial offer fell short.
The Greek club yesterday released a statement confirming that discussions would continue over a transfer worth at least £12m.
It said: "There is still no definitive agreement with Fulham for Kostas Mitroglou.
"Discussions will continue on Wednesday but only for an agreement of more than 15 million euros (£12.36m)."
Mitroglou last month extended his contract at Olympiakos but the club have always acknowledged that they are would be lucky to hold onto the prolific hit man.
The 25-year-old is currently the leading scorer in the Greek Super League with 14 goals in 11 matches.
Mitroglou has also been in good form in the Champions League this season, scoring all three goals in a 3-0 defeat of Anderlecht in October, before suffering an injury in the same competition that has kept him sidelined since November.
The setback has seen the interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea largely fade away, but it hasn't discouraged Fulham who appear to be closing in on the man they hope will fire them to Premier League safety.
