Ukraine star Yevhen Konoplyanka set for Liverpool move
BRENDAN RODGERS' bid to bring Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka to Liverpool before Friday's transfer deadline have been given a boost.
Liverpool have launched a £15million bid for Konoplyanka, with head of recruitment Dave Fallows flying to Ukraine for talks with his club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
Rodgers wants to make a "major" signing at Anfield this month and the 24-year-old is his top target.
And Konoplyanka's father claims there is substance to speculation that his son is set for a move to Liverpool.
"I do not want to say specifically but the information about a transfer to the English club is true," Oleg Konoplyanka said.
"He can change clubs later this week. We do not consider offers from Ukraine."
Rodgers missed out on long-term target Mohamed Salah after the Egypt international opted for Chelsea, forcing Liverpool to turn to Konoplyanka.
"I think we will hopefully do something over the next couple of days," said Rodgers last night.
"Hopefully we can have a major signing before the window shuts and if we can do that we will be set up for the remaining games."
