Chelsea involved in 'three horse race' to sign highly-rated Kurt Zouma
CHELSEA are firmly in the race to land St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma, that is according to the player's agent.
The 19-year-old rising star is thought to be worth around £10 million and was originally on Arsenal's radar although interest later cooled.
Although Jose Mourinho's side kept a clean sheet in their convincing win over Hull yesterday, the Portuguese tactician is looking to freshen up an ageing back-line and Zouma has been touted as a long-term successor to John Terry.
And it seems that the Blues are one of the teams in the running to land the centre-half.
"Serie A is an interesting destination, as are Inter, for the tactical growth of the lad,” Zouma's agent David Venditelli told French paper L’Equipe.
“Of course he wouldn’t mind moving to the Premier League, hopefully to Chelsea, where he could work with Jose Mourinho or to Monaco in Ligue 1.
“There were other sides interested, such as Newcastle, but now it’s a three-horse race.”
Zouma has been a first-team regular for St Etienne this season, however is currently serving a ten match ban for a horror tackle made during a Ligue 1 game.
