VIDEO: Arsene Wenger reveals Arsenal have no need for Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye
ARSENAL saw a bid for Yohan Cabaye rejected by Newcastle in the summer, but Arsene Wenger has revealed that there will be no bids from the Gunners in January.
Wenger's side will start 2014 at the top of the Premier League table thanks to an Olivier Giroud header against an in-form Newcastle side at St James' Park.
A 1-0 win was enough for the north Londoners, despite no Mikel Arteta, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey in the midfield.
Many thought this fixture would be a perfect opportunity for the French tactician to take a look at Cabaye in action for a returned bid when the transfer window reopens.
However, Wenger has confirmed that he is happy with his current midfield and distanced himself with an offer next month.
"We don't look for midfielders because today, we had not Ozil, not Ramsey, who stayed at home," he commented after the victory against the Magpies.
"We had still three good midfielders and had still Arteta on the bench, so there is no real need in there."
