Nottingham Forest 0 - Ipswich Town 0: Sickener for Billy Davies
FOREST boss Billy Davies refused to blame the referee for another two dropped home points.
It would have been an easy option, as Forest had a strong shout for one turned down. But even Davies must have realised that referee Scott Mathieson got his 18th-minute decision spot on.
He was in the perfect position to wave away Forest’s loud appeals as Simon Cox tumbled in the box after appearing to win the race with Dean Gerken.
Davies admitted: “Some you get, some you don’t, it’s what it is. We get paid to finish and put the ball in the back of the net and that’s not happening for us at the moment.’’
The Tractor Boys did well to ride their luck after the penalty scare as Forest dropped out of the play-off zone.
Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy said: "It was a fabulous – and right – decision by the ref. It was not a penalty.’’
