Norwich captain Sebastien Bassong pens new deal
NORWICH CITY captain Sebastien Bassong has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal which will extend his stay at Carrow Road to the summer of 2016.
The Cameroon defender joined the Canaries from Tottenham in 2012, and went on to win the club's player of the season award in his debut campaign.
Following the departure of Grant Holt to Wigan in the summer, the 27-year-old was appointed team captain for the 2013-14 season, and revealed his delight at extending his stay in east Anglia.
He said: “I’m really pleased. It is something I have been looking forward to doing, as being team captain I think it is something really important to commit myself even more to the Club.”
Norwich manager Chris Hughton admitted he was pleased to secure the long-term future of one of the club's key men.
He said: "We’re delighted that we’ve had the opportunity to extend Seb’s contract – somebody who has been an integral part of everything we’ve done so far and of course our player of the season last year.”
