Manchester United plot £53m double swoop for Real Madrid's Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria
MANCHESTER UNITED are plotting a £53m double swoop for Real Madrid pair Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria in January.
Reports in Spain suggest that David Moyes has already identified the pair as the players he wants to strengthen his squad at Old Trafford as he plots a second-half assault on the Premier League title.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Phil Neville was present as Real defeated Sevilla 7-3 at the end of October and had Khedira firmly in his sights.
Whilst Moyes reportedly considers Khedira to be his priority and is willing to offer £35m for the German international.
However, Di Maria has also caught the eye and could be available for around £18m.
Despite Real boss Carlo Ancelotti recently coming out in support of Di Maria, suggesting he would prefer to have the Argentine at the club than Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, it is thought that both players could be allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the upcoming transfer window.
Moyes is known to be looking to add at least one central midfielder and is believed to be unhappy with his options on the wing, but it remains to be seen whether the former Everton supremo is willing to spend such a fee on two players with other areas of the squad, such as the left-back spot soon to be vacated by Patrice Evra, also in need of reinforcement.
