Centurion Frank Lampard will be England's leading man against Chile
FRANK LAMPARD is set to captain England against Chile on Friday when he will be officially recognised as the country’s latest centurion.
The Chelsea midfielder will stand in for Steven Gerrard, who is due to report for international duty today when a hip injury sustained with Liverpool will be assessed.
Gerrard is unlikely to be risked against the South Americans at Wembley and Lampard will wear the armband on a night when his achievements for England will be recognised before kick-off. His daughters, Luna and Isla, will be mascots.
Lampard became the eighth England player to reach the milestone of 100 caps in October’s goalless draw with Ukraine in Kiev and has since made two more appearances against Montenegro and Poland.
