Barnsley 0 - Doncaster 0: John Ryan steps down in row
Doncaster chairman John Ryan quit at half-time as a simmering boardroom battle boiled over.
The cosmetic surgery magnate is involved in a dispute over his plans to bring in a consortium of investors.
Ryan, 63, left the directors’ box and went to sit with the 2,000 travelling fans. He said: “It’s sad but it was an incredible send off by the fans.”
It was the dramatic highlight of a dreary stalemate between sides who look destined to scrap for survival this season.
Barnsley had the best chances, notably a Chris O’Grady penalty that was saved by Ross Turnbull before Jean-Yves M’Voto headed wide when he should have hit the target.
Turnbull held a 20-yarder from David Perkins and Bongani Khumalo twice headed wide for Doncaster.
