Swansea's late blow in Russia
SWANSEA looked set for another memorable Europa League victory last night – before conceding a late goal for the second time against Kuban Krasnodar in a 1-1 draw in Russia.
Wilfried Bony had given Swansea an early lead but, just as in the home match against Krasnodar a fortnight ago, the Russians, who had been reduced to 10 men, snatched an equaliser late on. Swansea manager Michael Laudrup said: “I feel sorry for the boys because they deserved to win this game.”
Wigan were also in Russia but lost 1-0 to Rubin Kazan, while Tottenham won 2-1, with Erik Lamela claiming his first goal for the club and Jermain Defoe becoming Spurs’ record European goal-scorer.
