Wayne Rooney: Sir Alex's book PROVES I didn't request to join Chelsea
MANCHESTER UNITED star Wayne Rooney claims that Sir Alex Ferguson's new autobiography proves that he did not put in a transfer request this summer and ask to join Chelsea.
Ferguson's book indicates that Rooney 'wanted away' from Old Trafford but stopped short of confirming he officially asked for a move.
And after guiding United to the top of Champions League Group A by beating Real Sociedad 1-0, Rooney discussed Ferguson's revelations.
"He has got his own opinion, but I haven't said anything about it," said Rooney.
"Thankfully, he came back and corrected the story that I put a request in and I'm thankful to him he has corrected that. It hasn't reignited a feud."
Rooney admitted he hadn't seen his former manager since Ferguson stood down from his position at United in May.
The 28-year-old - today celebrating his birthday - went on to praise David Moyes and the 'new lease of life' he has found under the former Everton boss.
"I haven't seen him since he retired," said Rooney of Ferguson.
"I'm happy under the new manager.
"The new coach that has come in (and given me) a new lease of life.
"I'm really enjoying working under David Moyes."
Asked if he would respond to Ferguson's comments, Rooney added: "No, I'm happy playing football.
"That's the past, I'm looking to the future."
