Newcastle target Gomis attracts interest from Italy
LAZIO will rival Newcastle in the race to sign Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis in January, with interest also from Swansea and Cardiff.
It will be Alan Pardew’s second attempt to sign the France international, with a failed move in the summer due to his high wage demands.
Gomis reaches the end of his contract in the summer, with Cardiff and Swansea also on alert of the 28-year-old’s future availability.
The Premier League outfits all face competition from Serie A, with Lazio looking for a replacement for Miroslav Klose.
The Germany international’s contact also runs out at the end of the year and the Biancocelesti know they would do well to keep him with Barcelona rumoured to make a move for the 35-year-old.
Lyon haven’t had a great start to the season, but Gomis has been a regular goalscorer for the team having bagged at least 10 goals in each of the past seven seasons.
