Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney FIT for upcoming England qualifiers
MANCHESTER UNITED forward Wayne Rooney will be fit for England's vital double World Cup header against Montenegro and Poland, his boss David Moyes has confirmed.
Rooney was absent for last night's 1-1 draw in the Champions League away to Shakhtar Donetsk after suffering a shin injury in training.
Roy Hodgson is due to name his England squad today, and Moyes expects him to be available for the weekend's game against managerless Sunderland.
"Wayne Rooney will be okay for Saturday," Moyes said.
"He clashed shins with Danny Welbeck (in training).
"At a push we probably could have risked him but we decided not to."
Rooney's injury had been unclear before the game, with initial reports suggesting he was merely unwell.
