Chelsea's Willian SIGNED contract at Tottenham before stunning late U-turn
CHELSEA'S £30million signing Willian signed a contract with London rivals Tottenham before completing a sensational U-turn and joining the Blues.
Spurs host Chelsea today at White Hart Lane for a Premier League clash that pits Jose Mourinho against former protege Andre Villas-Boas.
And with a war-of-words between the pair overshadowing the build-up to their meeting, Willian has been revealed as the fuel that was thrown on their fiery relationship this summer.
Willian - who was also a target for Liverpool - came so close to becoming a Spurs player that he actually signed a contract with the North-London club before a late change of heart took him to Stamford Bridge from Anzhi Makhachkala.
According to a national newspaper, Spurs believed they had tied up the 25-year-old after he put pen to paper on a deal in late August.
However, a few days later Willian was a Chelsea player, claiming how it was a dream of his to play for the West-London club.
Reports suggest that Willian signed a contract over a celebratory drink between the playmaker, agent Kia Joorabchian and Tottenham officials at a restaurant of Joorabchian's in London.
The situation surrounding Willian's sensational change of heart to join Chelsea has irked Villas-Boas, who saw Mourinho as his mentor.
Mourinho joked about the move after securing the Brazilian's services, adding to the dramatic tension between the two clubs ahead of today's game.
Willian is yet to start at Premier League game at Chelsea, and is not in the match-day squad against Tottenham at White Hart Lane today.
