Papiss Cisse on target at long last for Newcastle
PAPISS CISSE scored for the first time in five months to send Newcastle on their way into the last 16 of the Capital One Cup last night as they beat Leeds 2-0.
Cisse headed home after 31 minutes to put his side in control and they secured victory as Yoan Gouffran smashed home a superb second in the 67th minute.
Holders Swansea’s reign is over, though, as they were sent crashing out 3-1 at Championship Birmingham. After a goalless first half, Dan Burn broke the deadlock to put Birmingham ahead and they never looked back.
Matt Green added a second and Tom Adeyemi struck a third before Wilfried Bony hit one back for Swansea.
