WATCH: Man Utd loan star Lingard's stunning FOUR goals on debut at Birmingham
JESSE LINGARD got off to the perfect start on loan at Birmingham scoring four on debut against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.
Lingard, on a month-long loan from Manchester United, grabbed a hat-trick in just 13 first-half minutes before adding a fourth in the 51st minute.
Lingard single-handedly doubled Birmingham's goal tally for the season before being substituted part-way through the second half with cramp.
After the match Lingard said: “It’s a dream come true. To get four goals and three points on my debut is massive.
“I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders, but as soon as the first goal went in I got more confident and wanted to get on the ball and score more.
“You can’t beat first-team football, so hopefully they will let me stay for the season.”
Lingard has a tough task making an impression at Manchester United this season, with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck all ahead of the England Under-21 international in the Old Trafford pecking order.
But Lingard has already made an impression with good performances in pre-season and, if he continues his goal-scoring form at Birmingham, it will only be a matter of time before David Moyes starts thinking about ways to integrate the youngster into the Red Devils first-team rather than letting him go out on loan again.
