David Moyes says Chelsea target Wayne Rooney is 'in a good place' at United
MANCHESTER UNITED manager David Moyes believes forward Wayne Rooney is "in a good place" after turning down Jose Mourinho's advances this summer.
Rooney ended months of speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea by snubbing Mourinho in order to resolve his differences at Old Trafford.
And the 27-year-old has done his talking on the pitch loudly since the transfer window shut, reaching 200 goals for United during last night's win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Moyes lauded the striker's performance against the Germans and suggested he is now firmly focused at United despite being heavily linked with Chelsea this summer.
"He is in a good place himself at the moment and obviously any centre-forward who is scoring goals feels good about himself," said Moyes.
The Scot believes Rooney can go on to become United's all-time top goalscorer and admitted the club made the striker aware of the record during Chelsea's interest in his services.
"I said he has a real chance to be one of the all-time leading goalscorers at this club and if he keeps playing like he did he will get there," Moyes added. "He was very, very good.
"It was something which we made him aware of (during the speculation about his future).
"More importantly I wanted to get him back in a really good condition and mentally ready correct when he was ready to play.
"Wayne was great. I'm not a Manchester United historian but I think there are only four people to do it (score 200 goals)."
