Man United boss David Moyes claims he tried to buy Stefan Kiessling while at Everton
MANCHESTER UNITED boss David Moyes claimed he tracked Stefan Kiessling when he was managing Everton.
Moyes will get a good look at Kiessling tonight when United take on Bayer Leverkusen in their opening group game at Old Trafford.
Moyes admits he has been a long-term admirer of the 29-year-old who has regularly contributed with goals during his seven-year stint with the German giants.
But he concedes that finances meant he couldn't pull off a deal at the time.
"In all the years I was at Everton, I followed him all the time," Moyes told Bild.
"But the money was sadly lacking.
"I have great respect for him. He is a great player who is strong with his head and his feet."
