Manchester United's David Moyes faces Wayne Rooney dilemma ahead of Crystal Palace match
DAVID MOYES is still not sure whether Wayne Rooney will be available for tomorrow's lunchtime kick off against Crystal Palace as he recovers from the head injury that kept him out of England's games against Moldova and Ukraine.
Rooney picked up the injury in a training ground clash with Phil Jones and was also forced to miss the Premier League game against Liverpool at the end of last month.
And whilst Moyes says he has no concerns over Rooney's general fitness, he is still waiting for the all-clear regarding the cut on the 27-year-old's head.
"He is in great physical shape," said Moyes.
"Obviously he has a cut right in the middle of his forehead which could split because the skin is very thin.
"But he has had his stitches out and it has knitted.
"We just have to see where the level of risk is with his injury."
And Moyes also defended the last-minute nature of the deal that saw Marouane Fellaini join from Everton on transfer deadline day.
"We had chosen to do it the way we did because we wanted to try and get Leighton Baines and we didn't want to give up on that until the last minute," Moyes said.
"We felt the best way to do that was to try and keep the two deals together. Only at the last minute did we split them.
"They talk about the great Belgium team but every time I go to see Belgium, I always come away thinking Marouane is the best player."
