Celtic to bid again for Posh star Lee Tomlin in January
CELTIC manager Neil Lennon is poised to make another offer for Peterborough forward Lee Tomlin in January - after seeing three bids rejected this summer.
Tomlin was the subject of intense interest from Celtic as the transfer window ticked down last weekend, after making three unsuccessful bids on Saturday August 31 for the Englishman.
However, the Scottish giants will return with a fresh bid for the 24-year-op in the New Year, with the player thought to be keen on a switch from League One to the SPL.
Lennon wanted to wait until Celtic has secured their place in the Champions League group stage before pursuing a replacement for star striker Gary Hooper, who joined Norwich for around £5million in July.
And the Northern Irishman will hope to land Tomlin in January after dispatching scout Craig Strachan - son of Scotland manager Gordon - to watch the Posh number 10 in action against Crewe on Saturday.
Express Sport understands the first offer for Tomlin was around £1.5m and by the time the third was made it had gone up to £2.5m.
But Celtic's late pursuit left Posh director of football Barry Fry angry, with the 68-year-old blasting: "The offers were increased by £1million over the three bids but the first offer was just so poor it wasn’t even worth considering."
