Manchester City plotted late bid for Manchester United and Chelsea target Eliaquim Mangala
PORTO defender Eliaquim Mangala has revealed that Manchester City made an enquiry for his services before deadline day.
The 22-year-old highly rated France international piqued the interest of a cluster of clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona.
City were originally believed to be prepared to pay out Mangala's £38m release clause although a deal never materialised.
Though City were in the hunt for him, Mangala admits he is happy and hoping for another productive campaign in Portugal.
"Manchester City were interested a few days ago, but nothing was ever close," Mangala told Portuguese paper A Bola.
"I'm a Porto player and I feel good here. I have no problem with this issue.
"I am fine here and focused on what we can do this season."
