Tottenham line up move for Alvaro Pereira as QPR seal Benoit Assou-Ekotto loan
TOTTENHAM may make a last minute bid for Uruguayan defender Alvaro Pereira after seeing Benoit Assou-Ekotto depart on loan for QPR.
Reports in Italy suggest that Spurs could move for the Inter defender after the player rejected a move to Galatasaray.
According to Sportsmediaset.it, Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring Pereira to White Hart Lane as a replacement for QPR-linked Benoit Assou-Ekotto, having worked with the 27-year-old when the pair where at Porto.
Villas-Boas hinted yesterday that his transfer business was finished after seeing Gareth Bale leave and bringing in Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches on Friday.
But it seems that a late bid for Pereira can not yet be ruled out.
Both Spurs and Chelsea were linked with a move for Pereira last summer only to see him make a "dream" £10m move to Inter Milan.
But things have not worked out as Pereira hoped in Italy and he could welcome a move to the Premier League with Spurs if a deal can be agreed with time running out in the current transfer window.
