CONFIRMED: Arsene Wenger pulls off masterstroke by prising Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid
ARSENAL have completed the extraordinary capture of Mesut Ozil for a club record fee of £45.2m.
The deal had been in the melting pot the whole day with Ozil undergoing a medical.
And the deal was completed with an hour before the transfer window closed.
"I'm looking forward to my future in the Premier League and at Arsenal," Ozil said in a statement.
"We are extremely pleased to have signed Mesut Ozil," said Wenger.
"He is a great player, with proven quality at both club and international level.
"We have watched and admired him for some time as he has all the attributes I look for in an Arsenal player.
Wenger pulled off a masterstroke with the 24-year-old now becoming Germany's costliest footballer.
Arsenal also completed a loan deal for Palermo keeper Emiliano Viviano on a season-long loan.
